1) One thing I learned in government was that there is a lot more going on in our government than just the president and his office. There are several other parts that play into the government and allows our country to run smoother.
2) One thing that surprised me was the fact that there is a difference between civil rights and civil liberties. I always just thought that they went together.
3) I do not agree with the fact that abortion is legal in many of our states. Many people believe it is murder and murder is against the law.
4) Taking government is a great way to become a more well rounded person because without the knowledge I gained in this class, I would not be able to be an informed voter and understand the way government works.
5) I think we could do more group work as well as reviewing more before tetsts. This will increase the average test scores.

Teachers Domain Assignment
Questions-
1) World War II changed a lot of things in America. It was a definite time of enlightenment, they began to change their ideas on a lot of different situations. A lot of conversations about individual rights were going on and naturally the people wanted their rights. It instilled the thought of nothing is impossible for America.
2) There was a lot of tension between the people in America concerning national security, national identity, free speech and individual rights. It was a point in time when the people were exposed to a lot of different things going on and naturally were curious about what their rights could be.
3) I think she meant that The Supreme Court didn't find a clear answer right away but by being determined to find a way to rule on different things they were able to establish a pretty sound way of government.
Article Summary-
The background essay illustrated the different purposes of going to war. It was a major war because many countries were granted or won the right to freedom from their past owners. Despite this happy time for the countries who were free, many Americans were not very happy because they felt as though they were fighting a war for freedoms they were not receiving at home. This obviously created tensions among the people and some of the issues were resolved over time.
The meaning behind "rights are relative, not absolute" is that the rights you are given are something that is a privilege none the less and if violated they can be taken from you. These rights can include your drivers license, your right to vote and the right to say what you want within reason.

Principle Lay
I believe that principle Lay should be punished in some ways but not so drastically that he loses his job. It is obvious that he is strong in his faith, and may have truly forgotten that he can not just do that anywhere he wants. I think that I would have a hard time too, in his situation because of my beliefs. I have seen many prayers going down at school and I personally don't see anything wrong with it, but those who don't have a certain faith or a different faith could take extreme offense to that.

Bill of Rights Scenarios
Scenario #1-
I believe that her fourth amendment was violated by him looking for the bomb for no apparent reason and ultimately seizing it.
Scenario #2-
I believe Sam Davis's first amendment was violated in the process of them shutting down his town meeting. He may have started the riot but that does not mean he participated in it, the crowd may have just reacted to what he had to say. Ultimately he has the right to speak his mind and he took all of the proper steps before holding the meeting.
Scenario #3-
I would say her situation falls under the ninth amendment because she has the right to remain in her house. Regardless of the situation with the roads.
Scenario #4-
I do not believe any amendments were violated in this action made by the principle. It is obvious that the parents are just worried about what to do with their kids.
Scenario #5-
I believe his fifth and sixth amendment rights have been violated by the actions taken by police. They had no reason at all to arrest him besides speculation that he had done something to the guy's grandfather.

Articles of Confederation
In this video the speaker does a great job at highlighting the key points of the Articles of Confederation. One of the main things I gathered was that the Articles of Confederation really was a great idea but just have a lot of speed bumps on the way. The point was to split up the power and give both the Federal Government as well as the states equal power to do what they please within reason. It was important that each state have the same amount of power as the other. Despite thing being fair in that aspect, it created a problem because they had to have 9 out of the 13 agree on something in order for it to be passed which was virtually impossible. Not including the fact that 13 out of the 13 had to agree in order to amend something. This was a hard thing to face and ultimately it caused a need for some changes to be made. The Northwest Ordinance of 1787 was a document that granted other provinces or areas the ability to join the United States. This was a good thing because the U. S had the chance to grow. There were a lot of problems with the Articles because there was no president in place, no government and no court system. Ultimately those things would be the things that destroyed the movement of The Articles of Confederation.

Three Branches Cartoons
I think this picture represents how the legislative branch has the power to make and propose laws but overall the other branches has the same amount of power when it comes to not passing the law or bill.
To me this shows how the Executive branch of government truly goes out on a limb no matter what situation they get themselves into. It is no surprise that many countries do not want to go to war but sometimes war is inevitable. Unfortunately the executive branch is forced to then do something about it.
This represents just how the whole idea of a Judicial form of doing things came about. It recognizes the case of Marbury vs. Madison and illustrates how something had to be done in order to insure that no unconstitutional things were being done because someone was mad that they lost the election.

Political Cartoons- Limited Government
To me this represents the many things that different parts of the government tries to pass. Then when the law or bill is denied it just kind of falls into the group of things that has been denied over the years. Demonstrating how it takes each branch of the government is responsible for its part in the process of making and creating new things. Once they agree on things it is then able to be put into action.
