1) One thing I learned in government was that there is a lot more going on in our government than just the president and his office. There are several other parts that play into the government and allows our country to run smoother.
2) One thing that surprised me was the fact that there is a difference between civil rights and civil liberties. I always just thought that they went together.
3) I do not agree with the fact that abortion is legal in many of our states. Many people believe it is murder and murder is against the law.
4) Taking government is a great way to become a more well rounded person because without the knowledge I gained in this class, I would not be able to be an informed voter and understand the way government works.
5) I think we could do more group work as well as reviewing more before tetsts. This will increase the average test scores.

Teachers Domain Assignment
Questions-
1) World War II changed a lot of things in America. It was a definite time of enlightenment, they began to change their ideas on a lot of different situations. A lot of conversations about individual rights were going on and naturally the people wanted their rights. It instilled the thought of nothing is impossible for America.
2) There was a lot of tension between the people in America concerning national security, national identity, free speech and individual rights. It was a point in time when the people were exposed to a lot of different things going on and naturally were curious about what their rights could be.
3) I think she meant that The Supreme Court didn't find a clear answer right away but by being determined to find a way to rule on different things they were able to establish a pretty sound way of government.
Article Summary-
The background essay illustrated the different purposes of going to war. It was a major war because many countries were granted or won the right to freedom from their past owners. Despite this happy time for the countries who were free, many Americans were not very happy because they felt as though they were fighting a war for freedoms they were not receiving at home. This obviously created tensions among the people and some of the issues were resolved over time.
The meaning behind "rights are relative, not absolute" is that the rights you are given are something that is a privilege none the less and if violated they can be taken from you. These rights can include your drivers license, your right to vote and the right to say what you want within reason.
